Money don’t move me.

Do you want to know one of the most dangerous positions to be in? Any position where you are easily impressed by money or can be bribed. Why so? Because if the price is right, you can be easily swayed. It’s easy to watch other people do outrageous things for a dollar amount and say, “That could never be me,” but how do you know? Have you ever been in a position where you’ve had to turn down money, or do you see every dollar opportunity as a blessing from God?

Let me be the first to say, every open door doesn’t come from God. The devil knows how to jazz up opportunities, especially when he knows our needs. When we look at Jesus after His 40-day fast in Matthew 4, we see where satan tempted Him with food and power. What does he tempt you with during your time of vulnerability? Until I was put in situations where I had to discern good from God, you couldn’t tell me otherwise. I look back at times when I was spiritually immature and can’t do anything but thank God for His grace.

In the hands of the wrong person, money comes with power, control, and manipulation. No, you may not be that person whose wrong hands the money is in, but what about when the shoe is on the other foot? Understand that is when the money is not a blessing, but can become bondage.

Exodus 23:8

And you shall take no bribe, for a bribe blinds the discerning and perverts the words of the righteous.

Ecclesiastes 7:7

Surely oppression drives the wise into madness, and a bribe corrupts the heart.

Isaiah 1:23

Your princes are rebellious,

And companions of thieves;

Everyone loves bribes,

And follows after rewards.

They do not defend the fatherless,

Nor does the cause of the widow come before them.

The Father needs children in this hour who will not be easily impressed by money, no matter their situation. He needs followers who cannot be bribed, nor pimp their gifts in a time of desperation. Don’t be deceived, it won’t look like bribery, it’ll look like flattery. It won’t look like deception, it will look like a blessing. Without testing the spirits and yielding to the unction of the Holy Spirit, everything will blend in, with no clear distinction. What’s the harm in that? Coming into agreement with a plan outside of God’s path for you. A plan that can push you back and keep you stagnant.

Even if you aren’t at a place right now where you completely trust God to guide you financially, I hope that this will plant a seed to not trust everything with a dollar sign attached. Judas betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. What are you willing to risk losing and at what expense? Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the idols now so that you don't stumble later. Declare that you, your gifts, and your discernment cannot be bought, nor are you easily impressed by dollar signs.
